This looked fine, except that one connector was right underneath both controllers. This seemed better to me and holes would be drilled accordingly. I put on a custom grip tape before mounting the trucks and connecting all cables. The custom grip tape graphic was 11x45 inch. Aligning the center lines was more difficult than I thought.

Bought a Weller 40W soldering iron from Home Depot today and I found it hot enough for AWG12 wires. This was how I soldered my XT60 to Dual XT90 power cable. To make sure that the cable is super flexible, use silicone cable. And to minimize the chance of the hot connector terminal damaging the housing, plug the male and female connector together before soldering. Motor terminals: transforming 4mm banana plugs to 5.5mm bullet plugs to match those on the VESC's: All soldering was done!!!
Need to make an XT-60 to Twin XT-90 power cable for the two VESC's from TorqueBoard, and to change the 4mm bullet connectors of the CarvOn Hub Motors to 5.5mm, also to match those on the VESC's. (The battery enclosure is partly wrapped to avoid accidental shorting, like if I drop something into it and short circuit some battery cells.) Thought the soldering could be done in less than an hour but what the heck, the new "60W" soldering iron from Amazon is no more powerful than my old 25W soldering iron! It cannot handle AWG12 wire. Now I need a new soldering iron! And one of the front wheels is not turning smoothly! I do expect a lot better from CarvOn than this. Now I need to order a set of Reds bearings, and some plastic spiral cable shield for the motor wires.
Just when I thought I had all the connectors and cables ordered and on their way, I noticed that somehow this USB connector was just not right. How come it's a mini USB and not a micro USB? Oh mine! Now I have to order an adapter or something if I could find them.
A hand saw was used to cut two inches off a kicktail. Unfortunately, the lines I drew previously were too hard to see for the finishing with a hand file. Luckily, using a bowl as a reference was much easier than I thought. Before: Work In Progress: Finished:
